Thursday 3rd April. Warrant Officer Ken Straun’s final night at 2504 (Archbishop Grimshaw Squadron) was quite an emotional parade to say the least. Leaving his mark on the cadets and squadron meant that saying goodbye was quite a disappointment.
WO Straun was called onto parade as the cadets were formed up ready to perform a guard of honour. After saying a few words of gratitude and encouragement Mr Straun was ready to leave, however the cadets could not let him disappear without a round of ‘For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow’, and a few final words of thanks. Not forgetting the words of wisdom which WO Straun constantly voiced to cadets in order to encourage them.
“Either be a follower, or be a leader – but a good one, otherwise you will get trampled on”
As WO Straun was leaving the premises, Mr Richards, former Civilian Instructor encouraged a cheering after performing the guard of honour.
On behalf of 2504 I would like to say a massive thank you to WO Straun for motivating and encouraging cadets to reach there absolute potential. Just to emphasise the gratitude towards Warrant Officer Straun an immense thank you for all of your hard work, the squadron would not have achieved what it has without you today, nor would have the many cadets who have passed through your reign for the better! Once again, a massive thank you, and we wish you all the best for your retirement.
From all at 2504!
