Air Cadets from 198 Hinckley Squadron found themselves in the public eye again. This time they have been raising funds by bag packing for customers at Hinckley’s ASDA supermarket, helping them to raise approximately £675.
Some cadets even got the chance to use the tannoy system, broadcasting their reasons for the fundraising activity to the public within the store. They thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity, as they would not be able to do this normally. The money raised will be put to very good use helping the Squadron continue to offer a wide range of activities for the cadets to take part in.
Other public events the cadets have attended include parades and sports events. They have even provided a guard of honour at funerals and weddings of former RAF personnel and ex-Cadets locally.
198 Squadron’s Commanding Officer, Flight Lieutenant Chris Parry said, ‘The cadets always enjoy representing their squadron, and this kind of activity gives them the perfect opportunity to personally meet the local community. Donations received from these events also helps towards maintaining our squadron minibus, which enables the cadets to travel around to and from more events throughout the year. These funds also help to minimise the costs of other activities for all cadets, allowing the Air Cadet Organisation to be financially accessible to all.’
Staff and Cadets of 198 (Hinckley) Squadron would like to thank Shoppers and Staff for all their help and donations throughout the day. Thank You.
