Having won my race at the wing Cross Country Championships, held at Tudor Grange in Solihull, I was fortunate enough to be selected to represent the Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing at the Regional Competition.
Winning my race and going home with a Gold medal, made me feel very good, and being able to represent my Wing made me feel even better.
Unfortunately the next scheduled race had to be postponed due to bad weather, which was unfortunate as I had trained well for this event and built up my stamina. But in doing so I sustained a knee injury.
With a chance of adding another Regional Blue to my collection, I knew that not only would I have to recover from my injury, but I also knew that I would have to run well in the race itself. Fortunately I recovered from my knee injury in time to participate in the next event at RAF Cranwell.
On arriving at RAF Cranwell, on the 29 March 2008, following an early start and a long journey, I collected my Central and East Tracksuit and prepared myself for my race.
The race set off at a fast pace as the field was made up with some very strong runners. I was able to remain with the leaders for a short while before dropping back and losing a place, which I later made up through grit and determination, finishing in a very strong fourth place.
This not only pleased me as I was up against some very good competitors but my placement helped to secure an overall win in the championships for the Central and East Region.
